Add the JPG and choose PNG as the output format. PNG is lossless, so nothing further is degraded in the conversion — though it cannot restore detail that JPG compression already discarded, and the PNG will usually be several times larger than the JPG was. Converting JPG to PNG is worth doing when you need to edit the image repeatedly without compounding compression loss.

Add the PNG and choose JPG. Because JPG has no transparency, any transparent areas are filled with a background colour — you can pick that colour rather than being given white by default. Set Quality to Maximum if file size is not a concern, or lower it for a much smaller file.

Add the WebP file and choose JPG or PNG. This is a common need because WebP downloads from websites are not accepted by some older software, print services and document editors. All current browsers can decode WebP, so the conversion works here without anything extra.

Not in most browsers, and this is a real limitation rather than a missing feature. HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone, but no browser except Safari on a Mac or iPhone can decode it — there is no way for a page running in Chrome, Firefox or Edge to read one. Two things work: open this page in Safari on an Apple device, or change your iPhone setting under Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible so photos are saved as JPG from then on. Files this tool cannot read are flagged individually and the rest of your batch still converts.

JPG for photographs going anywhere at all — it is the most universally accepted format there is. PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency, such as logos, screenshots and line art. WebP when the destination is the web and you control it: roughly 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, supported by every current browser. AVIF when you want the smallest possible file and know the destination supports it — it beats WebP but is newer and slower to encode.

It depends on the direction. Converting to PNG is lossless, so no further quality is lost. Converting to JPG, WebP or AVIF re-encodes with lossy compression, so set Quality to Maximum to keep the loss negligible. Note that converting a JPG to PNG does not recover quality already lost — the discarded detail is gone, and the PNG simply preserves what remains without losing more.

Yes, as an inherent result of how the conversion works. The image is decoded and re-encoded from raw pixels, which does not carry EXIF metadata across — so camera model, timestamps and GPS coordinates are stripped from the output. That is a useful privacy benefit if you are sharing photos publicly, and worth knowing about if you actually wanted that metadata preserved.
