Country facts are the highest-comment category in this whole family, because a large share of your viewers are from the country in question and will correct you. That is not a reason to avoid the format — comments are engagement — but it is a reason to source carefully and to prefer facts that are structural rather than statistical.
Structural facts age well: how many countries a nation borders, which hemispheres it sits in, what its constitution requires. Statistics — population, GDP, rankings — go stale within a year and get corrected forever.
Where you do use a figure, put the year in the attribution line so the card is honest about its vintage.
Tips that actually help
-
Prefer structural facts to statistics
Borders, geography and constitutional quirks stay true. Population and GDP rankings go out of date within a year and get corrected for years after that.
-
Date any figure you use
If a card carries a number, the attribution line should carry the year. It is one field and it settles most of the argument in advance.
-
Expect and read the corrections
People from the country will comment. Getting the second video right because of the first video’s comments is how this format compounds.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add flag images to the cards? +
Yes — upload the image and the card layout adapts. YAQUIZO does not ship a flag library, so you control the source and licensing.
Can I make a guess-the-country round instead? +
Yes. The guess-the-flag question type does exactly that, with blur, pixelate and silhouette reveals, and it can sit in the same project as your fact cards.
How many countries per video? +
Eight to twelve cards at three or four seconds each. One fact per country keeps the pace up more reliably than three facts about one country.
